About

Our Crew vs. Crew battle concept is inspired by Breaking's Battle of the Year. The main goal is to showcase what’s possible within hustle when working as a team of at least 8 people. Crews will be expected to dance to any kind of music selected by the Battle DJ and will be judged primarily on their teamwork.

Rules & requirements

Crew requirements
  • Crews must consist of a minimum of 4 couples. The maximum number is up to you.

  • Each crew must have a name (preferably a cool one).

  • Dance couples are inclusive and variable (no restrictions on the number of leaders or followers, as long as tasks are fulfilled).

  • Teamwork is the most valuable aspect (outfit, routines, performance, etc.).

Leader requirements
  • Every crew must select a leader who will act as their coach, point of contact, and be responsible for all outcomes.

  • The crew leader is responsible for assembling the team and finding replacements if a member leaves.

  • The crew leader will need to provide, when requested, the crew name, a group photo, and backstage photos and videos for promotional materials.

Battle rules
  • Each battle round lasts 12 minutes and includes 4 entries from each crew.

  • One entry = maximum 90 seconds.

  • Teams must demonstrate the following tasks during their battle round: at least 1x double-leading1x routine1x role-switch1x lift1x drop

Ideas for routines include: double-leading, double-following, commandos, 2, 3, or 4-couple routines, creative stealing and switching between couples, and exchanges—essentially anything that looks impressive and involves more than one couple.

What's forbidden
  • All-style solo entries like whacking, breaking, etc. (all-style elements incorporated into hustle are allowed).

  • Stealing dancers from another crew.

  • Canceling crew participation.
